Tony Lombardo, assistant coach of the Valley Stream Central Eagles baseball team for 9 years, has been honored with an Assistant Coaches Award from the National High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Coach Lombardo has helped Valley Stream Central High School become one of the finest programs on Long Island. The Eagles have never had a losing season since Coach Lombardo started at the school in 1989 and many of his players have recieved full baseball scholarships to college.

Coach Lombardo has been coaching for over 20 years from Franklin Square and Valley Stream. He has won the Campbell Award in 1984 and the Vinny Pisano Sportsmanship Award in 1991 and 1992.

"To be recognized on a national basis is a big thrill for me" said coach Lombardo.
