Gaining Experience by John Faust AFU#4
(John is one of five Chief Assignors for AFU)

My Fellow Official,

I would like to take the time to thank our organization for making this last year very enjoyable. The hustle and professionalism displayed by the officials I worked with this year was just outstanding. I would also like to thank my team of umpires who worked with me throughout the season to receive their assignments. You guys could always be counted on to go out of your way when assignments needed to be filled, and I look forward to working with you again in 1999.

I would also like to address the Rookie Class of 1998. My second year as an AFU official was when I not only gained more confidence in my abilities but I built substantially on my mechanics and technique. It was great to be on the same page with more seasoned umpires. Not only did umpiring become more enjoyable but I was able to do more games with John LaBarbera, a guy I really enjoyed partnering up with. Now if I can only get him to work on his coverage at 3rd base when he has the dish! (only kidding John). Looking forward to the 1999 season.
